Sunday Morning Meditation Practice
OZS is secular in its approach, no experience is necessary, and all are welcome.
There is no set fee to participate, however, a donation will help defray our costs and is gratefully accepted.
Wear comfortable loose-fitting clothing. We have some cushions (zafus) and chairs, however, if you have your own zafu, we encourage you to bring your own. Meditation instruction is available. If you need instruction, we recommend you arrive at least 15-20 minutes early.
What and When: The doors open at 9:30 am and the practice session begins promptly at 10:00 am with the chanting of the Heart Sutra. We sit in meditation (zazen) for twenty-five minutes, do walking meditation for five minutes, and another twenty-five minutes of sitting. After the last sitting, we serve tea, and have a Dharma talk and discussion related to our practice. We usually finish up by noon.
